We drove through the Everglades yesterday and it was beautiful! There was sunny weather and many trees. It is nice to get out of the Cape Coral Region of Florida and out into nature a bit! We are staying at a campground that has a Miami Zip code, but is pretty much as far away as you can get from the hustle and bustle of this very populated state! Florida had a seasonal low temperature last night, and I am glad we are in a cabin rather than our pop-up camper.
We are basically surrounded by farm land and there are many fruit stands along the road. Mike and I will probably go to a pick-your-own strawberry farm in the next few days! Produce is sooooo much cheaper down here that it is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is nice to be able to eat fresh all of the time and not spend a fortune.
We have been thoroughly enjoying fresh tomatoes, avocados, bananas, oranges, strawberries and many other yummy things.
We are staying in a cabin until Monday and then we will be on our way back up north to Gainesville, FL to stay with Mike’s Aunt for a week or so. After we leave her house, we are going to stay in a national forest in Mississippi and make our way over to San Antonio, Texas.
The next show I will be at is Lake Havasu, Arizona Bluegrass on the Beach, March 6-8 2009.
